This time, I’ve discovered the perfect spot for the Japanese summer.<\/span><\/p>\n

Oyama Seicha’s “Satsuki Tea Stand” in Kahoku, Yamaga City<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n

Welcome to the Kahoku area of Yamaga City.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

Nestled among mountains and surrounded by lush rice fields, it’s a place of serene beauty.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

Here, you’ll find “Oyama Seicha”.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

Oyama Seicha is a tea producer that prides themselves on growing, processing and selling tea on their own estate.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

Yamaga is said to be the birthplace of Japanese black tea or <\/span>wak\u014dcha<\/span><\/i> (\u548c\u7d05\u8336), and they offer a delightful variety of teas beyond just green tea.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

They open their own tea stand, “Satsuki,” on weekends and holidays.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

It’s the perfect place to enjoy tea that’s been lovingly grown and produced right here.<\/span><\/p>\n

Summer Speciality –<\/b> Kakig\u014dri<\/i><\/b> (Shaved Ice)<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

The menu is brimming with stylish, mouthwatering drinks like green tea…<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

lattes, and even floats.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

But the one thing you simply have to try is…<\/span><\/p>\n

house-made <\/b>kakig\u014dri<\/i><\/b> (Japanese shaved ice)!<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

It’s time to order!<\/span><\/p>\n

Upon ordering, they whisk the matcha right in front of you.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

Of course, I got the <\/span>kakig\u014dri<\/span><\/i> as well.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

It’s served with house-made match syrup poured generously over the shaved ice.<\/span><\/p>\n

Who would have thought that shaved ice made by a tea farmer could be such a treat\u2026!<\/span><\/p>\n

The matcha flavor permeates every bite, no matter how deep you dig.<\/span><\/p>\n

The rich taste of matcha combined with the cool ice is unbeatable.<\/span><\/p>\n

It’s sweet enough for kids to enjoy while still delivering that unmistakable green tea flavor.<\/span><\/p>\n

As I ate, I was delighted to discover ice cream hiding underneath!<\/span><\/p>\n

They plan to offer shaved ice until around September, but they might extend it depending on the weather.<\/span><\/p>\n

Don’t Forget to Enjoy Some Tea<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n

Since this is a tea farm’s stand, I couldn’t resist ordering some green tea as well!<\/span><\/p>\n

Just look at that deep, rich color!<\/span><\/p>\n

One sip, and you’ll be glad you are in Japan.<\/span> After the cold shaved ice, it really hit the spot.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The bitterness is perfectly balanced, making it not only easy to drink but also allowing me to fully appreciate the quality of the tea.<\/span><\/p>\n

The store is mainly focused on take-out, but there are chairs outside where you can eat.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"Owner, Mr. Oyama (left)<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

During the week<\/span>, <\/span>Mr. Oyama is busy working in the tea fields and running the farm, so the tea stand is only open on weekends and holidays.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

It’s worth visiting just to have your tea poured directly by the producer!<\/span><\/p>\n
