You may have some image that black tea often conjures up European scenes, but Japanese <\/span>black tea has been gaining attention in recent years<\/b>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Japanese black tea (<\/span>Wakocha<\/span><\/i>)<\/span>\u2026<\/span>Wakocha <\/span><\/i>refers to black tea made from Japanese-grown tea leaves.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cNanashiki<\/span>-K<\/span>ochaten\u201d in Ezu, Higashi-ku, Kumamoto <\/span>C<\/span>ity is a tea specialty shop <\/span>where<\/span> you can choose and taste various kinds of <\/span>black teas and Wa-Kocha (black tea)<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201dNanashiki-kochanten\u201d is situated directly across from the <\/span>Ezu housing complex<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

There are three parking spaces. Two are next to the <\/span>entrance<\/span>, and one immediately in front. <\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The interior, with its wood finishing, is designed to be relaxing.<\/span> That is probably because the <\/span>owner wanted visitors to enjoy <\/span>their \u201cme time\u201d, either reading books and <\/span>daydreaming in a spacious setting<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>business cards<\/span> look like a spout of <\/span>a<\/span> teapot <\/span>and are cute<\/span>!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The caf\u00e9 is operated by the owner alone<\/span>, so sometimes it takes more time to serve <\/span>the dish<\/span>.It\u2019s the best to visit when you have some time to spare<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A Wide variety of Tea Leaves<\/b><\/h2>\n

It is so <\/span>interesting<\/span> to choose the <\/span>taste<\/span> of tea because there are many types of <\/span>flavors<\/span> such as <\/span>m<\/span>ilk tea, <\/span>f<\/span>lavor tea<\/span>, and caffeine-free <\/span>r<\/span>ooibos tea<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Currently<\/span>, the food meny offers two options: Lunch (1500 yen) and Cream Tea (1300 yen), both served with a pot of black tea.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Each menu<\/span> has a pot<\/span> filled with tea.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Lunch (<\/span>a one-plate meal<\/span> of bread, scones, salad, and ham)<\/span> looked delicious, but this time, I ordered cream tea because <\/span>I really wanted to enjoy having black tea<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As you can see in the picture below,\u00a0 the cream tea came with scones with jam and cream on the plate, just like<\/span>,<\/span> \u201cI have seen it before in picture books and movies!!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The kind of <\/span>scones<\/span> is different from day to day, and you can choose from <\/span>several types of them<\/span>. <\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

I picked “chocolate chip” and “cream cheese and fig.”<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The homemade cream which was made from fresh cream and milk wasrich yet refreshing. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0The scones of course\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

pair well with fruits!<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The jam flavor changesseasonally, and you can choose <\/span>from different types<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The shop serves blueberry flavor jam in this season.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The recommended drink<\/span> was <\/span>Japanese black tea (<\/span>Wakocha<\/span><\/i>)<\/span> which perfectly complemented the cream tea.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

The deep flavor and aroma of <\/span>Japanese black tea filled my senses, enhancing not just the taste but also the olfactory experience<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The combination of Japanese black tea, <\/span>scones<\/span>, cream, and jam was a <\/span>guaranteed delicious treat<\/span>\u2026!<\/span><\/p>\n

Takeout Options & Tea Leaves Available for Purchase<\/b><\/h2>\n

The shop<\/span> offers scones <\/span>(takeout)<\/span> and tea leaves in addition to <\/span>eating inside<\/span>. <\/span><\/p>\n

It is also good to find your favorite flavor of tea<\/span>, ask the owner how to <\/span>brew<\/span> and enjoy having a <\/span>tea time<\/span> at home.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

At<\/span> Nanashiki-kochaten, you can choose your own cup and saucer from the collection.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Among the predominantly Hakuji cups (white porcelain) that showcases tea beautifully, there are also cups with vibrant designs.<\/span><\/p>\n

This pattern<\/span> was so beautiful and instantly caught my eye. <\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

I asked the owner about the cup. She answered that the cup is Arita-yaki, and it is colored by a potter named <\/span>Jeremy<\/span> who lives in <\/span>Arita, Saga<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

*Arita-yaki: Porcelain which is made in Arita town, and surrounding areas of Saga Prefecture.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The design is a popular choice among customers.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
