You usually only see cotton candy at festivals, right?<\/span><\/p>\n

I heard there’s an “Automatic Cotton Candy Machine” at Amu Plaza Kumamoto, so I went to check it out!<\/span><\/p>\n

A Slightly Hidden Machine<\/h2>\n

I arrived at Amu Plaza Kumamoto,<\/span><\/p>\n

where the machine is\u00a0 located unassumingly next to the game center on the 6th floor.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

It’s a bit tricky to find, but it’s closer if you take the elevator near the adjacent multi-level parking garage (there are three in total, it’s closest to P1).<\/span><\/p>\n

As soon as you leave the elevator and go left, the machine will be on your immediate left.<\/span><\/p>\n

Creating \u201cKawaii\u201d<\/h2>\n

So, two guys in their thirties\u2014yours truly and a buddy\u2014went to check it out.<\/span><\/p>\n

We decided to embrace our sweet tooth and try the Cotton Candy Vending Machine!<\/span><\/p>\n

The process is straightforward with just four steps:<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The first thing you need to do is to select the design (shape) and color of your choice on the upper right screen.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

In order to do this, first tap the pink button on the lower right screen that says \u201cStart DIY\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Then, you can select a design.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

After you decide on a design, you can select a color.<\/span><\/p>\n

The clipart-like image in the center of the screen is a preview, so you can see what your creation will look like.<\/span><\/p>\n

Once you\u2019re happy with your choices, tap the pink “\u78ba\u8a8d” button to confirm.<\/span><\/p>\n

Then, insert your coins (note: the machine doesn’t take bills, but you can get change at the adjacent game center if needed).<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Each session costs 500 yen.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

After paying, the machine starts,<\/span><\/p>\n

and the cotton candy begins to form around a central stick.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The first layer is pink.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

yellow for the second to shape it,<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

and blue wraps it all up.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Finally, you can easily grab your creation from the window in the lower left corner.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

It\u2019s ready to eat!!!<\/b><\/p>\n

And yes, we managed to make something quite <\/span>kawaii<\/span><\/i>\u2014and surprisingly big!<\/span><\/p>\n

Just a heads up, regardless of the color you pick, they all taste like sugar.<\/span><\/p>\n
