Astonished at the Quality of the Pizza Replicating the Authentic Taste! I visited “Horikawa Pizza” in Kikuyo Town.

writer:Haru Haru

Don’t you think the taste of pizza depends on its dough? There are many kinds of pizza dough, and each of them creates their original and unique flavors.

The other day, I heard a rumor that the pizza made by a restaurant owner is beyond description. Apparently, he has trained his pizza-cooking skills in Napoli, Italy diligently. Following to this lead, I found myself at “Horikawa Pizza” in Haramizu, Kikuyo.

Check out the unbelievably delectable pizza “Horikawa Special”!

“Horikawa Special” is served with such a tall tower of carrot!

Above all else, its crust is much more spectacular than you expect, and the slightly burnt part isn’t the exception. While eating it, I found myself muttering “Delicious… So delicious…” again and again.

“Horikawa Special” is made based on the classic “Margherita” (the upper one), and on top of that, a lot of arugula is sprinkled. And what’s more, heaps of grated carrot and their large homemade loin ham are added. What a hearty pizza!!

The carrots are made in Kikuyo town, where this restaurant is located, and the loin ham hails from “Sho”, a butcher shop in Aso.

Everybody from children to adults loves the tower of carrot rape, so many of them buy it separately to take home.

The loin ham brings out the flavor of pork, and matches the pizza crust really well.

Look at this stretchy melted cheese made in Italy~~!!!

Dough So Authentic, Only an Italian Wood-Fired Oven Will Do!

Mr. Keisuke Fukushima, the owner of this restaurant, opened this restaurant soon after he had come back to Kikuyo town from his training in Napoli to learn how to make and bake pizza dough. Actually, he was impressed with the quality of the crust when he visited there.

He sincerely bakes his pizza in front of the customers, adding some firewood to the pizza oven made in Napoli, the homeland of pizza.

Checking the degree of the donness, he spins it around with the perfect timing. It is made in the Italian way, so he replicates the authentic taste of pizza! According to Fukushima-san, the key ingredients of the dough (salt, flour, and olive oil) are sourced from Italy.

“Horikawa Pizza” of Kikuyo Town: Nestled Amidst Expansive Carrot Fields

This is the exterior of “Horikawa Pizza ” in Haramizu Kikuyo tTown, where you’ll find the takeout entrance.

To the left, there’s an entrance leading to a parking lot in the back. The main dine-in entranceis visible from here

The inteorior makes the atmosphere to feel the warmness of wood, and some fixtures are hand-made by the owner. There are 6 table seats and 3 counter seats, and you can enjoy the meals in the terrace on sunny days.

Once you try the pizza crust, you must be stunned with its quality and taste, and the ingredients, including vegetables, pork, and cheese are unbelievably delectable. I found an authentic pizza restaurant in a quiet residential area surrounded by the carrot fields!!

If you want to take away the pizza, your advance reservation is recommended.
