Located in Kengun 3-chome, the restaurant is only a minute’s walk from the final stop on the Kumamoto City Tram line, “Kengunmachi.”

Look for the sign featuring a cute burger character next to the Book-Off store—it’s hard to miss!

The interior resembles a traditional American diner.

By night, the space transforms into a bar, while lunchtime draws in families, making it a beloved spot for all generations.

Stunning and Extravagant Cheeseburgers

Here’s the menu! This time, I tried their most popular hamburger, the “Gang Burger.”

Gang Burger (with fries and drink): 1,480 yen

When the Gang Burger arrived, I was quite surprised to see it come out on a     cast iron hot plate!
Instead of eating it with your hands, it was suggested that we eat it with a knife and fork. This was a first for me. Let’s dig in!

Cutting into the soft, fluffy cheese-covered bun reveals an irresistible mix of:

・Melty cheese,

・Juicy, flavorful patties packed with beefy umami,

・Crispy, fresh lettuce.

The taste exceeded all my expectations.

The bun is soft and fluffy, the creamy cheese is decadently delicious, and the patty is a masterpiece—crafted with care, carrying on the flavors perfected by the owner’s father, a seasoned chef.

Pro tip: dip your fries into the cheese sauce! The contrast between the creamy cheese and the warm, fluffy fries is unbeatable. It’s a flavor that adults love, and it’s easy to see why it’s also a hit with kids! With every bite, you’re getting twice the fun and indulgence.

Opened in April 2024, Munchizu Burger is the brainchild of owner Terasaki, an avid US hip-hop fan. Terasaki also organizes hip-hop events across the prefecture, so it’s no surprise that he brought a piece of the culture to his restaurant.
