“Café & Gallery Vessel”: a Café in Kikuyo Town Where You Can Try Your Hand at Pottery in a Soothing Atmosphere!!

writer:Haru Haru

Hey there! Want to try your hand at pottery? Head over to the “Café & gallery Vessel” in Kikuyo Town for a fun pottery experience. They offer many kinds of meals around the world, such as Chile meals and Mexican meals, And that’s not all – I’ve heard the café’s ambiance itself is a haven of tranquility! It is easy to understand how pottery can create a calming effect, but being soothed by the space itself? Now that’s something I had to explore! So, off I went to experience it firsthand!

Head into to a Residential Area Along the Street where the Kikuyo Community Center is, Opposite Sanrigi Park

To find the “Café & Gallery Vessel”, start by making your way to Sanriki Park. Once you’re there, take the side road next to the Sanriki Town Citizens Center and venture into the residential area. Keep going and you’ll stumble upon the shop in no time. Just keep an eye out for the signboard!

Now, I arrived at “Café & Gallery Vessel”, but I can’t see what their interior is like!! Let’s dive into this world and discover what it has in store for us!

Wow… As soon as we stepped inside the shop, we were greeted by an incredibly stylish and inviting space. The shop owner Mr. Yusuke, who learned      interior design abroad, told us he designed this place.  I heard that this place is famed for its relaxing vibe, and it turns out, the design is inspired by the comforting feeling of being in the wombNo wonder it feels so peaceful and calming. It all makes perfect sense now.

You Can Try Many Dishes from Different Countries!

They offer many quite unique meals, including Chuppe soup, a home-style Chilean dish, Chili Con Carne and Rice, a Mexican dish, and Saltado, a traditional Peruvian dish.

This time, I ordered “Mediterranean Vegetable Chili Con Carne with Rice” for my main dish!!!

First, I had the salad and chilled onion soup, blended with soy milk and tasting smooth.

Here is the main dish “Chili Con Carne and Rice with Mediterranean Vegetables”!! It contains chunky beans and vegetables, and pork, making me never tired!

For dessert, I had a open-face fruit sandwich topped with mixed berries. Apparently, they actually make their desserts from scratch, and they switch them up every single day! The cake was incredibly moist and paired amazingly with the mixed berries. It was absolutely delicious.

What a Rich Variety of Drinks They Offer!!

Look! What a rich variety of drinks!!! It’s OK to visit here to drink just a cup of coffee.

Among the choices, what intrigued me the most was the “Fresh Mix Juice”! You

choose your main flavor from the “Base” options and your sub-flavor from the “Mix” options. And if you’re willing to spend an extra 200 yen for a set meal, you can select any flavor from the menu sheet! I decided to go with milk as by “Base” and strawberry as my “Mix”!

Wow!! It’s much larger than I thought. But surprisingly, it doesn’t feel heavy at all. I had absolutely no problem gulping it down!

I Want to Get Relaxed through the Pottery Experience!

On the second floor, there is a facility where you can do a pottery-making experience called ‘Tobou Keisen”. I’m ready to embrace the healing power of my first-ever pottery session!

This time, I tried “Tebineri Tatara Zukuri (slab hand-building)”, which is easy even for beginners like me. I’ll use this clay block to make my pottery!!

First, flatten out the clay block by pushing with your hands.

Then, you use a hand-operated machine to flatten it out even more.

 It’s nice and flat now!

As the next step, carefully trim the clay along the edge of the provided paper!

As I worked on my pottery, the owner arranged an assortment of dishes with various shapes for the next phase and said, “Choose your favorite one!” Since I had a hankering for curry, I went for the deep dish.

Check out what I’ve done with the mold. It’s gradually becoming a dish!

Next, choose your favorite stamps and colors. Isn’t it just the best feeling when you get to pick what you love the most?

So, I pressed my clay with the coolest patterns I could find!

This is what I made!! So cute!!!

Alright, let’s make the rim just like a circle!

Hang on and watch it come to life!

Now, every step to make my own pottery is conpleted!! It has much luster than I had expected! I chose marine blue for my pottery. It can be used as a dish for soup or salad! I never expected it to be so much fun and the process was faster than I thought it would be. This place is highly recommended for anyone seeking relaxation or wanting to try their hand at pottery crafting. I thoroughly enjoyed my time using the soil and found it to be incredibly relaxing.

On the Second Floor, Find an Array of Tableware and Aroma Lamps

Ascending to the second floor from the café, you’ll find an array of tableware crafted at ‘Tobou Keisen.’

Aroma lamps are also displayed! The serene ambiance of the second floor enveloped me entirely. If you want to release your stress from your daily life, “Café & gallery Vessel” will be one of the best options to experience an extraordinary and calming environment!
