Charandraa Curry has you thinking, “When’s the next time I can have this?” right after you finish eating!

writer:Haru Haru

I’m the make-my-own-curry-at-home type, but today I visited a curry restaurant “Charandraa Curry ” in Kengun. Straight to the point, their curry was dangerously addictive! after finishing, I found myself immediately wondering, “When can I come back?”

A Hiding Restaurant

Charandraa Curry is located in Kengun.

At first glance, you might struggle to find the restaurant. If you ever wonder if it’s open today or can’t find the shop, just remember, it’s definitely on the second floor of this building.

Please find this “OPEN” sign! Climb the stairs without hesitation. Once you get here, the intoxicating aroma of curry assures you, “You’re in the right place.”

A cautionary note is written on a board hanging in front of the restaurant – “Our curry is spicy.” Now, I am not one for spicy foods. I was in a dilemma, but I proceeded, thinking the spice level might be just right for me.

The interior is cozy and intimate. In my impression, many of the customers come alone.

The menu got me wondering, “What’s Achaar?” Turns out, it’s an Indian pickle, available as an extra order.

The Overwhelming Quality of Their Spiced Curry!

After waiting for minutes, the two types of curry I ordered were served, emitting a spicy aroma. Despite the warning, I braved the Spicy Chicken Curry first. It wasn’t that spicy. You might feel its spiciness, but it wouldn’t keep so long. In other words, it wasn’t the kind that makes you scream, “WATER!!” More importantly, it tastes rich and aromatic. Each spice tastes separately, but they make beautiful harmony when assembled in a spoon. And what’s more, its lingering flavor fills my mouth, so I found myself taking another bite of curry silently with much sweat. This isn’t so bad, even comfortable.

Plus, this leafy garnish tastes so good. I don’t know their names though.

A word of caution, the Triple Curry is not recommended for those who aren’t spice veterans. It’s delicious but indeed spicy.. However, the accompanying cartilage was so good that I asked, “Can I buy just the cartilage?” when paying the bill.

I will definitely visit here again!!

After I left the restaurant, I noticed the hidden signboard adding nice touch.

While I was writing this article, I remembered the taste of Charandraa Curry and wanted to visit there again. What I can say for sure is that their curry is so addictive!

It reminds me of the old days, when the best shops in town were a bit intimidating to enter. Opening that door felt like stepping into the adult world for serious curry-eaters. It’s a nostalgic, yet enthralling experience. If you want to be crazy about their curry, please give it a shot!
