Kumamoto City’s Shimotori Shopping Arcade boasts a new eye-catching sign that’s been drawing attention of late.
Many people are probably curious about it.
In these times of price hikes, an all-you-can-eat and drink spot for just ¥2,500 is quite a find.
We had to check it out!

Smartphone Required!
The place is located on the second floor of the Kashiwada Building. Stairs can be tricky, especially after a few drinks, so be careful on the way out!
Upon arrival, inform the staff of your party size and listen carefully to their instructions:
①The dining period is 2 hours, with last orders 30 minutes prior (one hour for “nabe” (hot-pot style) dishes).
② You can order up to two items per person at a time. If you want more, complete your initial order then order again.
③You’re allowed one drink per order.
④There will be no announcement for last orders.
These rules ensure smooth and quick service for all patrons, so cooperation is appreciated.
Additionally, all orders must be placed via mobile; at least one person in the group needs a smartphone.
Payment is cash only, settled on your way out.
After the briefing, you’ll be guided to your seats.
You’re given a slip with a QR code printed when you enter the restaurant.
Begin by scanning it.
The guidelines will be displayed once more on your screen, and then you can start ordering by tapping ‘Start Order’ on your screen.
Cheeeeeeeeers!!!
Everything on the menu is included in the all you can eat and drink course!
Although you place orders on your smartphone, there is a copy of the menu on the table, so you can discuss with your table what looks good before place your orders.
Guys, what looks good to you?
Order everything that’s marked as “recommended”!
You order like a mukbanger!
Wait a second…
What are you doing?!
Why are you drinking before we all toast?
Because it was right in front of me!
That’s right! I ended up forgetting to take a picture, but there were already ice-cold glasses set up on the table—no need to wait for an official toast.
This is awesome!!!
Sapporo Black Label Beer, Ume Sour, Jasmine Tea and Salty Lychee Soda
Despite Ito’s early start on drinking, we decided to have a proper cheers! Kampai!!!
In most izakayas, it can take time for your orders to be served when they’re crowded, but “Osusume-ya” is known for its quick service.
As soon as you toast, the orders start arriving quickly.
Starting with the motsu nabe hot pot that pairs incredibly well with beer…
Each dish was brough to the table with much fanfare.
Before we knew it, the table was completely covered by dishes.
However, we are the Higo Journal team.
It seems that eating more and faster than others has become an occupational hazard for us, so…
we kept ordering more…
and more…
drinking,
eating,
and drinking again.
We enjoyed the dessert and suddenly found ourselves at the last order time.
Time goes by way too fast!!!!
Everyone felt the same way, and then we discovered that…
…you can extend your time!!!!
For just 800 yen for an additional hour!!!
This is a really convenient system for when the fun is just getting started.
Value Breakdown
“Osusume-ya” offers an incredible all-you-can-eat and drink deal for 2,500 yen, covering everything on the menu!
But what is particularly interesting is the pricing of the individual items listed.
I decided to calculate how much value we got in those 2 hours.
Drumroll, please…
…and the result is…
21,720 yen (just for food items)
There were the five of us, so if we divide the total, it comes to 4,344 yen per person.
Since each person paid 2,500 yen for the course, that’s a gain of 1,844 yer per person!
This place might just be the best value you can find.
Perfect for After Parties, too!
The clear pricing makes Osusume-ya an easy choice for gatherings with friends.
When looking for a budget-friendly option in the city, consider making this your go-to spot.

Hi there! My job at Higo Journal is translating articles part-time. When I am not working, I am playing volleyball or eating shabu-shabu. I miss my cats that live with my family in Poland, but I love Kumamoto and don't plan on leaving yet! Let's discover cool things about our hometown together! Cheers!
